Session Fees
A standard 50-minute session with a clinical psychologist costs $270.00. If your GP has referred you under a Mental Health Treatment Plan, you can claim a Medicare rebate on up to 10 individual sessions each calendar year.
Fees are the same for in-person sessions at Crows Nest and telehealth.
Medicare Rebates
To claim a rebate, you'll need a Mental Health Treatment Plan and referral from your GP. This must come from your usual GP or from the practice you're registered with through MyMedicare. A referral from a psychiatrist or paediatrician also works.
Your first referral covers up to six sessions. After that, your GP reviews how things are going and can refer you for more, up to 10 in a calendar year (1 January to 31 December).
Private Health Insurance
If you have extras cover that includes psychology, you may be able to claim part of the fee through your insurer. Check with your fund about your limits. You can claim through Medicare or private health for a session, but not both.
Payment
Payment is due on the day of your session by card. If you have a valid referral, we'll process your Medicare rebate for you and it's paid straight to your bank account, usually within one to two business days.
Cancellations
We ask for at least 48 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Sessions cancelled with less notice, or missed, are charged at the full fee. Medicare rebates can't be claimed for missed sessions.
